My Favorite Butter Frosting

My son's favorite frosting paired with Devil's Food Cake [mine too!]
Original Recipe Yield 2 1/2 cups:  enough for 2 dozen cupcakes or a full sheet cake.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract [ I sometimes like to add 2, just because]

Directions
  1. In medium bowl, melt butter  in microwave [30 seconds]. Add milk, stir in the vanilla and confectioners' sugar. Beat with an electric mixer until thick and smooth.
**To make chocolate butter cream frosting add 1/4 cup cocoa and a bit more [1 or 2 tsp]  milk.
